The Countdown Begins: Blix-a-thon 2025 Returns This December — Bigger and Better!

Every December, something special happens at IIT Bombay. Not the lectures, not the labs. But Blix-a-thon. It’s that one event where kids forget the classroom and bring out their wildest ideas in robotics.

And guess what?

It’s back. Blix-a-thon 3.0 is happening from 22nd to 24th December 2025, and this time, it’s bigger, faster, and a whole lot more exciting.

What's in for this year?

There are four challenges this year, but the goal remains the same. What exactly? Build something that makes a kid think differently. Here are the challenges:

Robo Sprint

This one is for kids who like speed and precision. We have two open categories here. One under 12 and the second under 15.

Each team starts with 5 balls on their side. The goal? Pass as many balls as possible into your opponent’s court. The team with the fewest balls left wins the round. Over here, you have got 3 minutes to perform and even plan.

There is a bot size rule that you should be mindful of. Including all the components, the bot size must not exceed 1.5 × 1.5 ft.

The Ultimate Maze

Have you tried out Marble Run 2 STEM kits yet? This one is quite similar to what we do in Marble Run 2. Players will have to design their own maze where the marble travels from start to finish, as slowly as possible, without stopping. This game is open to all age groups.

Over here, make sure to use every piece from your kit; it actually is part of the challenge. Here, more time = winner.

Coding Quest

We are expecting students aged 15 years and above for this competition, and prior coding knowledge is a must here.

What has to be done? Your bot should be fully programmed to collect cubes from colored zones and deliver them to matching coloured zones, all autonomously. Once it starts, you will strictly not control anything manually.

Winner? The one who finishes correctly in the least time. If no one finishes, the highest score takes it home.

Robo Precision

Here it’s all about control. The bot that performs with the most accuracy takes it home. This is again for students aged 15+ years.

Participants here will have to stack cups of various sizes using only their bot. The tallest, most stable tower wins. Each cup stacked in the designated area earns points. Over here, your bot size must not exceed 2.5 × 2.5 ft.

Who can be a part of Blixathon 3.0?

Anyone who’s curious. That’s the only requirement. You don’t need to be a robotics pro. You just need the will to try. Just make sure to build your model at home or school. There will be no on-the-spot building this time. Come ready, come confident.

And if you’ve got last year’s kit, you’re sorted. Use the same one (just carry some extra rubber bands).

What's more?

A scholarship that matters

We’ve kept scholarships for the first 50 teams that need that extra support. If you’ve scored above 65% in academics, come from a family with an annual income below ₹3 lakhs, and can get a school recommendation, you might just get up to 100% off.

Because talent deserves a stage, not a price tag, and we at Blix truly understand this.

How to get in?

That’s it. You’re in. Simple, clean, no mess.

Once done, you’ll also get access to our webinars, where we walk you through rules, kits, and a few build tips that’ll save your day.

What does Blix-a-thon really stand for?

Over the years, Blix-a-thon has become more than a competition. It’s where school students turn into builders. Their curiosity turns into something that we have never even thought of. It’s the moment they realise, robotics isn’t about wires and motors, it’s about ideas that move.

We’ve seen kids start with basic models and end up doing projects that genuinely surprise us. That’s what keeps us going.

What makes this year special?

This is not just another edition of Blix-a-thon. It’s proof that the movement is growing. More schools. More cities. More curious minds building, breaking, learning and most importantly, more challenges.

And that’s what we always wanted, to see kids think smarter, not harder.

So yes, the countdown to Blix-a-thon 2025 has officially begun. Get your kits, get your ideas, and get ready to make December unforgettable. Because once you’ve built your first robot, there’s no going back!!

Let's see you on the other side!!!
