Blix-a-thon Edition 4: Mumbai Regionals in Collaboration with WSRO
Share
For the first time ever, Blix-A-Thon has gone regional in collaboration with World School Robotics Olympiad (WSRO). This means we have expanded our annual Robotics competition into regional events, which will be spread across 9 Indian cities, so more children can participate. The Regional rounds are scheduled across Delhi, Bhopal, Raipur, Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Pune, Mumbai, and Goa between April and September, ahead of a national-level finale.
But, Was There Really A Need For Blix-A-Thon To Go Regional?
Our vision has always been to give children an experience that surprises them with what they can build, and it is our responsibility to give them the right space to gain this experience. Last year, we had almost 2500 students coming to IIT Bombay for Blixathon. And as years passed by, it just kept growing, but we could not go ahead in the same way. We were receiving demands for participation from all over India, along with questions about why Blix-A-Thon was only being held in Mumbai. So we needed a solution that would help us bring the competition to these participants and give them a fair chance to compete in the final. This led us to expand Blix-a-thon to 9 other regions, giving more children the opportunity to participate, compete, and qualify for the nationals.
Where It All Began: Mumbai Sets the Stage
On April 19th, Mumbai, the first city on the calendar, marked the beginning of Blix-a-Thon regionals. Over 300 students arrived ready to compete across two challenges, Robo Sprint and Robo Precision, and from the very first round, it was clear this was going to be something special.
The entire day was packed with intensity, and you could feel the competitive spirit in every single individual present. Kids, coaches, and even their parents were screaming at the top of their lungs for every point won or lost. And when the rounds came to a close, every emotion spilled out, tears, triumphant screams, and yes, the occasional frustrated outburst from a competitor who had given everything and still came up short. These weren't just participants going through the motions; they were kids who genuinely cared, adapting under pressure, pushing past their limits, and competing with a heart that was impossible to ignore.
The next destination on the map
Now we have wrapped up the Mumbai regionals, and the experience was exactly what we hoped for. But now it is time to move to the next one. There are more participants waiting eagerly to prove themselves and reach the nationals. For the next destination, we chose a place a little calmer than Mumbai, where life is a little slower, and after an intense day of competing, you can always find a spot to just chill. On 28th June, 2026, Blix-a-thon is coming to GOA!
